Tibet 2012
Tashi delek and welcome to my Tibet 2012 gallery.
I arrived in Chengdu and after a few days rest, a visit to the Panda Breeding Center, I went by car to Kangding or Dartsedo (Tib.). A night in Dartsedo then over the pass and onto the Tibetan Plateau. In Tagong or Lhagong (Tib.) I photographed three days of lama dances or cham, visited a nomad family, the Ani (nunnery) Tashi Gompa then returned to Chengdu for a night. Early the next morning Tsering, (my guide and translator) and I boarded a bus for the 11 hour ride to Zoige, the big city in the Aba Region of Amdo. We were met at the Zoige bus station by a friend of Tsering’s who drove us for two hours to her village, Maggan. All these images are in and around the places mentioned. If you are interested in my route, go to Google Maps and enter the names of the places I mention. To view this as a slideshow, click on the Slideshow button in the upper right then select the display speed in the upper left corner.
A special thanks to Clarke Warren for his assistance with captions of the ritual objects.
